Woodson Announces 2023 Spider Baseball Schedule

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond baseball head coach Tracy Woodson has announced the Spiders 2023 schedule that includes matchups against teams from the SEC, ACC, and Big 12 with seven in-state non-conference battles. 2023 marks Woodson's 10th season at the helm of the Spiders and he sits two wins shy of 400 managerial victories over 16 NCAA seasons.
The Spiders open the season with four-straight games on the road against Alabama (Feb. 17-19) and William & Mary (Feb. 21) before heading back to Pitt Field to host Yale (Feb. 24-26).
After a quick midweek trip to VMI (Mar. 1), UR will host nine home games in 11 days. The Spiders will welcome Fairfield (Mar. 3), 2022 NCAA Tournament team Canisius (Mar. 4) and West Virginia (Mar. 5) as part of the Central Virginia Challenge. Merrimack will come in for two games (Mar. 7-8) and Rider for a weekend series (Mar. 10-12) before the Princeton Tigers head south for a midweek (Mar. 13) matchup.
Richmond will start a home-and-home with Longwood on the road March 15 then host the Lancers on March 28. Sienna will come in for three games with a double-header on March 18 and a get-away game the following day. Towson will head to Pitt Field March 22 for the first of a midweek home-and-home before the Spiders travel north to take on St. John's (Mar. 24-26).
The 2022 Atlantic 10 Tournament runner-up Spiders will open the 2023 league slate hosting St. Joseph's (Mar. 31-Apr. 2) and a midweek contest against James Madison (Apr. 4) before heading on the road for eight straight. UR will head to the nation's capital to face George Washington in league action (Apr. 7-9), over to Charlottesville to take on Virginia (Apr. 11) and make the trek to UMass (Apr. 14-16) before wrapping up the stretch at Towson (Apr. 19). The Spiders will face Fordham for the first time since the 2019 A-10 Tournament at Pitt Field April 21-23 before closing the month with a weekend series at George Mason (Apr. 28-30).
St. Bonaventure will travel to Pitt Field (May 5-7) for the Spiders Alumni Weekend before the Spiders head to NC State (May 9) for a midweek contest. UR will renew its crosstown rivalry with VCU at the Diamond in Richmond, Va., May 12-14. Richmond will close out the regular season at Pitt Field hosting Norfolk St. (May 16) and Davidson (May 18-20) to gear up for the 2023 A-10 Championship May 23-27 at the Diamond.
