Weinfurther ties for 19th at Low Country Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Spiders sophomore Rory Weinfurther recorded her fifth top-20 finish in six tournaments this season at this weekend's Low Country Intercollegiate at Moss Creek Golf Club, tying for 19th in the field of 90 with a 15-over 231 over 54 holes. Weinfurther was the top finisher from the Richmond women's golf team, which tied for eighth with host Wofford in the 16-team event.

The Spiders combined for a team score of 321 (+33) in Sunday's final round, dropping one spot on the leaderboard. Richmond's total score of 948 (+84) was one stroke better than defending Patriot League-champion Navy, which finished in 10th place.

Junior Vicky Zhu tied for 37th in the field at 20-over par (236), while senior Naomi Mitchell tied for 46th at 24-over par (240). Emily Ward carded a 79 (+7) on Sunday, the only Spider to break 80. She finished tied for 58th at 29-over (245). Freshman Lauren Jones was five strokes back at 34-over (250), tied for 68th in the field.

Richmond will return to action on March 28-29 at the Kingsmill Spring Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Va.
