Frank's Career High Powers #17/19 Women's Lacrosse Over GW

Washington— The #17/19 Richmond women's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 in conference play with a 12-7 win at George Washington Sunday.
The Spiders (8-2, 2-0) and Colonials (2-8, 0-2) traded goals in the first half to make it 6-6 at the break, but the Spiders came out stronger in the second and outscored GW 6-1 over the final 30 minutes.
Marina Miller got scoring started with a goal just over two minutes into the contest. Showing some early life, the Colonials went on a three-goal run before Lindsey Frank recorded her first goal of the day to make it 3-2 after the first quarter.
Frank and Arden Tierney teamed up for a goal at the 13:06 mark of the second to tie the game, but GW responded with another goal before Nicole Concannon tied things again with a successful free position attempt. Then, each teamed scored two beginning with a pair by George Washington before one from Hannah Custer and another one by Tierney off a feed from Lauren Kingsbury.
Tied with six at the break, Richmond brought an onslaught of goals in the second half to pull away.
Tierney netted a woman-up goal at the 11:13 mark of the third, then GW scored its last of the game at the 6:14 mark.
Lindsey Frank solidified her career-high, five-goal day with three goals in the final 1:46 of the third, including two eight seconds apart as time expired. She scored her first on a free position attempt and scored the following two off feeds from Concannon and Miller.
Finally, Tierney and Miller (Muldoon) both scored their second of the game to seal the deal for the Spiders.
Richmond outshot the Colonials 47-21 with 35 of those on goal. On the other end of the field, Delaney Galvin made six saves in the win while GW's keeper Megan Patrick recorded 23 saves. Richmond totaled 18 draw controls with Tierney accounting for eight while GW had 5.
The Spiders return to Robins Stadium next weekend, Friday, April 1 against Duquesne and Sunday, April 3 against Saint Joseph's. Game times are both set for 1 p.m.
