#17/19 Spiders Dominate VCU Friday

Richmond, Va.— The Richmond women's lacrosse team continued its undefeated streak against VCU Friday, halting the Rams in its tracks, 19-5.
Richmond was all gas no brakes, with 11 Spiders recording points highlighted by Colleen Quinn's six. The Spiders came out strong with the running clock beginning less than midway through the second quarter. Richmond had a massive second frame, blanking the Rams while laying on nine goals of its own.
Quinn scored three goals and added three assists on just six shots, while Grace Muldoon (4 goals, 1 assists) and Arden Tierney (1 goal, 4 assists) followed with five points.
From there, Lindsey Frank recorded a hat trick, Sophia DiCenso and Sarah Roycroft scored a pair of goals and Leah Kenny, Nicole Concannon, Marina Miller (1 assist) and Hannah Custer each chipped in another. Kat Kelley recorded her first points of the season with the assist on Kenny's goal.
The Spiders (11-2, 5-0) put pressure on the Rams (6-7, 2-3) offense all day, causing 20 turnovers to hold VCU to just 15 shots. The Spiders defense held the Rams to an opponent season-low five goals. Delaney Galvin needed just four saves to secure the win, while VCU goalie Meghna Dawar saved 14.
UR took 44 shots, its second-most of the season and won 18 draw controls to VCU's nine.
Up next, the Spiders will face #17 UMass on the road Sunday at 1 p.m.
