McCrossan, Keppel Named A-10 Players of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond field hockey seniors Regan McCrossan and Tess Keppel were named Atlantic 10 Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, the league announced Monday.
This is McCrossan's first career weekly league honor and Keppel's second, awarded earlier this season on Sept. 6. Richmond now has three weekly award honorees on the season.
McCrossan, a native of Waxhaw, N.C., scored a career-high two goals in the fourth quarter of the Spiders 4-1 victory over league foe Davidson on Sunday. In her first goal, she snuck past the Davidson defense to tap in a pass from Madi Hyatt (Fredericksburg, Va.) two minutes into the final period. McCrossan put the hammer down at the with two minutes left in the game, hitting home a low shot past the Davidson goalie for her team-leading fifth goal of the season.
Keppel, a native of Baltimore, Md., collected two huge defensive saves, one each in the third and fourth quarters, in Richmond's tough 4-3 loss at No. 17 Wake Forest Friday. She also assisted the first goal in the Spiders 4-1 victory over Davidson Sunday, finding Stevie Drum (Virginia Beach, Va.) in the circle after intercepting a pass and moving it to the Spiders attacking third.
On the season McCrossan is second on the squad with 10 points on five goals. Keppel is third on the team with seven points on two goals and three assists and a team-leading three defensive saves.
Richmond, 4-3 on the season and 1-0 in Atlantic 10 action, heads to the Midwest for the first of back-to-back weekends on the road. Richmond will take on Saint Louis Friday, Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. CT in Atlantic 10 action before heading to the Evanston, Ill., to face 2021 NCAA National Champion and current No. 1 Northwestern at 12 p.m. CT/1 p.m. ET on BIG10 Network Plus.
