Gilyard signs with Memphis Grizzlies

RICHMOND, Va. -- The NBA's Memphis Grizzlies have signed former Richmond Spiders guard Jacob Gilyard, the organization announced Friday.

Gilyard, a four-time All-Atlantic 10 selection who was named the Most Outstanding Player of the A-10 Championship after leading Richmond to a conference title in March, inked an Exhibit 10 deal with Memphis. An Exhibit 10 contract provides financial incentives for a player to stay with an organization's NBA G League affiliate if he does not make the regular season roster.

Gilyard played with the Minnesota Timberwolves during July's NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. He also played for the Golden State Warriors during last summer's California Classic.

Gilyard is Richmond's career leader in three-pointers, assists, and steals, registering an NCAA Division I record 466 thefts during his time at UR.

The Grizzlies training camp will begin on Tuesday, September 27. Memphis' first preseason game is Saturday, October 1 vs the Milwaukee Bucks. The game will tip at 8:00 PM ET and be televised on NBATV.
