GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Richmond Spiders women's golf team concluded its fall competition season Sunday at Furman's The Lady Paladin, placing 14th in the 18-team field. Junior Rory Weinfurther was Richmond's top individual finisher, shooting 221 (+5) to tie for 17th.
"We have a talented group that wants to compete and it's been so fun to watch them," said coach Calle Barlow. "I also think we are fairly deep and when someone isn't playing well then another picks it up. I'm really looking forward to the spring but I'm ready for them to get better in the offseason."
Richmond was in 18th place after a 311 (+23) in Friday's first round, but played the final 36 holes in 17-over par, tied for ninth best in the field.Â
With Weinfurther's 17th-place finish in the field of 95 individuals, she has now recorded a top-20 finish in 11 of her 12 full-field events over the last two seasons. Weinfurther played the par 5s at the Furman Golf Club in 4-under par, tied for sixth best in the field.Â
Sophomore Lauren Jones shot a season-best 225 (+9) to tie for 35th place. Jones played the par 3s in 1-under par during the event, tied for third best in the field.Â
Freshman Olivia Wilkie was two shots back at 227 (+11), also a season best. She tied for 46th. Fellow freshman Hannah Lydic tied for 80th at 234 (+18).Â
Senior Kendall Miller shot 76 (+4) Sunday, one stroke off her career best. She tied for 88th at 242 (+26).
Richmond will take a trip to Ireland in two weeks and play four rounds in four days. The Spiders next official competition, however, isn't until the Columbia Classic in Melbourne, Fla. on February 10-12, 2023.Â
