Trippett Places Top 25 in USATF National Cross Country Championships
01/30/2023 | Cross Country, Women's Track & Field
With a world championships team, national titles, and prize money on the line, this year's championship shaped up to be a must-see. Whether you watched from home or along the course, the action in Mechanicsville, Virginia last weekend was outstanding. Trippett, running in her first 10K ever, was consistent throughout and maintained a top 30 position before coming home in 25th place. It's the highest placing for a Spider women's team member since All-American, Amy Van Alstine placed 23rd in these championships in 2011.
This marks the first time since 2019 that the World Athletics Cross-Country Championships finally return, bringing the best all-terrain runners together in a global showdown in Bathurst, Australia next month. For Americans hoping to represent Team USA, the selection process took place Saturday, January 21 at the 2023 USATF Cross-Country Championships where the top six runners automatically qualified to represent team USA in the upcoming World Championships.Â
The USATF Championships return to Pole Green Park in January, 2024 where the U.S. team will be selected for the World Championships to be held in Croatia.Â
