Field Hockey Falls to No. 14 Saint Joseph’s

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Field Hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 14 Saint Joseph's Friday evening at Crenshaw Field in Atlantic 10 Conference Action.
Richmond, now 7-6 on the season and 2-3 in league action, is back in action Sunday against Old Dominion at noon in Norfolk, Va. Saint Joseph's moves to 11-4 on the year and 5-0 against the conference.
The opening quarter saw the Hawks collect three corners and tally one shot as both squads were unable to stay long in their attacking third.
The Hawks got on the board first in the 17th minute of the contest, on a tip in off a corner play. SJU added a second goal in the 25th minute, again taking advantage of earning a penalty corner.
Richmond fired off seven shots in the second quarter and tallied two corners. Saint Joseph's had six shots and seven corners in the first half.
SJU picked up a third goal, converting on another penalty corner, in the 39th minute while UR only tallied one shot off one penalty corner.
In the fourth quarter, UR tallied five shots with three on goal and picked up four penalty corners. UR finished with 13 shots and six on goal, with seven penalty corners. Stevie Drum put all three of her shots on goal, while Cori Nichols and Olivia De Cain both had two shots on goal.
SJU tallied 15 shots and 10 on goal was awarded 13 penalty corners.
UR goalkeeper Kristen Rake had five saves, while defender Kaitlyn Csensits tallied a defensive save.
