Field Hockey Drops A-10 Contest to La Salle

Conshohocken, Pa. – The University of Richmond Field Hockey team fell 4-2 to La Salle University Friday afternoon at The Proving Grounds in Atlantic 10 Conference action.
Richmond, now 6-5 on the season and 2-2 in league play, stays on the road for Sunday's noon contest against Towson at the Towson Field Hockey Complex. La Salle moves to 8-4 on the year and 3-1 in conference action.
La Salle took a 2-0 lead into halftime, posting a goal in each quarter of the opening half. The Explorers held the upper hand in the first 30 minutes, collecting 13 shots to UR's 4, and five corners to three.
Stevie Drum put the Spiders on the board in the third quarter and cut the Explorers lead in half. Madi Hyatt drove and set Drum up for her sixth goal of the season in the 41st minute of action.
Lily Saunders tied the game with her first goal of the season in the 44th minute, becoming the fourteenth Spider to tally a goal this year.
The Explores answered with two more goals for a 4-2 lead by the end of the third quarter.
La Salle held Richmond off the board in the fourth quarter. La Salle finished with a 21-10 shot advantage with 17 to nine shot on goal lead.
Freshman Thea Conomikes collected her first career start in goal, making 13 saves for Richmond.
