Richmond Opens Outdoor Season, Seniors Recognized

Richmond, Va. - The University of Richmond Track and Field program kicked off their outdoor season on Friday at home as they hosted the annual Fred Hardy Invitational. Prior to the meet starting, 13 seniors were honored.Â
Before the meet kicked off, Spider seniors were recognized for their dedication and impact to the program. Acknowledgments prepared by the coaching staff were read at Friday's senior day ceremony for each athlete.
To begin the outdoor season for the Spiders, Madison Trippett (second place/4:32.03), Elizabeth Stockman (fifth place/4:39.73), Allison Colflesh (seventh place/4:41.32), Dylan Miller (eighth place/4:43.88), Brooke Reif (ninth place/4:43.95), Laurel Kurtz (thirteenth place/4:48.74), Emily Rzucidlo (nineteenth place/4:53.34), Mollie Fenn (twenty-eighth place/4:56.69) and Ashley Minns (forty-seventh place/5:16.00) competed in the 1500m.
To continue the 1500m, Jake Schindel (seventeenth place/4:01.91), Riley Fletcher (eighteenth place/4:02.13), William Marhold (twentieth place/4:04.89), Henry Haase (twenty-second place/4:06.51), Jade Mawn (twenty-ninth place/4:11.51), Jason Latina (thirty-third place/4:15.39), and Jacob Ellis (thirty-sixth place/4:17.34), all raced to represent Richmond.Â
Aylin Bruce and Olivia Grace ran the 400m, finishing with times of 1:01.24 and 1:01.57 to claim twelfth and thirteenth places.
Nina Lavelle was the sole Spider to take part in the 100m dash, as she took the finish of second place at a time of 12.78. The Richmond freshman raced impressively among 21 other competitors, narrowly missing out on a first place finish.Â
The Spiders had ten members of women's squad race in the 800m, an event that has continuously proved to be successful for the program. Kayla O'Connell, Kyra Keurentjes, Caroline Donohoe, Dylan Miller, Allison Colflesh, Brooke Reif, Morgan Lyons, Maddie Orr, Lindsay Colflesh, and Emily Rzucidlo all pushed hard to represent Richmond in the event. Six of these Spiders finished in the top 10, including O'Connell (second place/2:09.17), Keurentjes (third place, 2:09.35), Donohoe (fifth place/2:13.81), Miller (sixth place/2:15.91), A. Colflesh (ninth place/2:16.51) and Reif (tenth place/2:16.59).Â
Nina Lavelle and Virginia Beringer took part in the 200m, finishing with times of 26.01 and 26.37 to grab eighth and twelfth places.Â
Anna George led the Spiders to successful results in the 5k as she took the fourth place finish at 17:56.69.Â
Jordan Bendura earned the first place finish in the men's portion of 5k, taking it at 14:38.55.
Richmond came away victorious in the 4x400 relay as their "A" squad of Nina Lavelle, Kyra Keurentjes, Kayla O'Connell and Ginny Beringer took the first place finish at 3:49.50.
Olivia Grace was the only Spider who participated in any of the field events on the day, as she finished in fifth place for the long jump (5.02m).
Next up, the Spiders head to the Raleigh Relays March 23-25 at N.C. State.Â
