Field Hockey Falls 2-1 in Overtime to American

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Field Hockey team fell 2-1 Friday in overtime to American University at Crenshaw Field.
Richmond (1-2) is back in action Sunday at Crenshaw Field to host Georgetown at noon on ESPN+.
American (2-1) took an early lead in the 10th minute of the first quarter, as the Eagles controlled the tempo.
The Spiders fired off five shots with two on goal and had four penalty corners in the second quarter but were unable to find the back of the net.
Freshman Charly Faherty tied the game in the 43rd minute of the contest, connecting with fellow freshman Freya MacKay to find the back of the net from the top of the circle.
After a scoreless fourth quarter, the Eagles scored the game winner in the 68th minute on a corner play.
The Spiders held the Eagles to just five shots with four on goal while UR tallied 11 shots with five on frame. UR also collected five corners to AU's three.
