Field Hockey Collects Rainy Senior Day Victory Over Saint Louis

RICHMOND, VA – The University of Richmond Field Hockey extended their winning streak to four games on Saturday, collecting a rainy Senior Day Victory over Saint Louis, 5-2, at Crenshaw Field.
Richmond, now 6-3 on the season and 2-0 in Atlantic 10 action, honored the program's seven May 2024 graduates pregame, including Olivia De Cain, Madi Hyatt, Ella Hayes, Kaitlyn Csensits, Cori Nichols, Alexandria Lavelle and Lily Saunders.
The Spiders is back in action Friday, Sept. 29, hosting Lock Haven in Atlantic 10 play at 5 PM to kick of UR's Family Weekend at Crenshaw Field. This is also the Spiders Lace Up 4 the Cure game.
Annie Nash put the Spiders on the board first, connecting with Csensits and Lavelle on a corner play in the fourth minute of the game.
Stevie Drum then put in a quick pass off a Hyatt shot rebound to put Richmond up 2-0 in the 25th minute.
In the second half, De Cain tallied her first goal of the season on a one-timer off the Spiders second penalty corner of the third quarter in the 33rd minute.
Lavelle quickly followed with a goal of her own in the 35th minute converting another Spider penalty corner.
Saint Louis got on the board on a penalty stroke in the 48th minute, to make it 4-1. The Billikens then added a second goal in the 52nd minute to cut the Spiders lead in half.
With no time on the clock, Cori Nichols scored the Spiders fifth goal of the day, putting home a sharp pass from Jess McMeeking on UR's 15th corner of the game.
Richmond held a 27 to 6 shot advantage, with a 19-4 upper hand on shots on goal. UR also had 15-3 advantage in penalty corners.
