Field Hockey Drops 6-3 Decision at Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. – The University of Richmond field hockey team fell 6-3 to Stanford Friday at the Varsity Field Hockey Turf.
Richmond, now 2-3 on the season, continues its West Coast trip Sunday, taking on UC Davis at 12 p.m. PT/ 3 PM ET at Aggie Field Hockey Facility in Davis, Calif.
Stanford (1-3) jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the first quarter. The Cardinal added a third goal in the second quarter with 35 seconds in the half for a 3-0 lead at the half.
After halftime, UR answered with three goals of their own in the third quarter.
Kaitlyn Csentists tallied her third goal of the season with a tip-in on a quick pass from Madi Hyatt 45 seconds into half.
Freya MacKay tallied her first collegiate goal when she converted a penalty stroke in the 36th minute to put the Spiders within one, 3-2.
Stanford quickly regained a two-goal lead in the 38th minute, 4-2.
Madi Hyatt collected her second goal of the season in the 41st minute, converting a penalty corner play off a pass from Alexandria Lavelle.
The Cardinal added a fifth goal in the 45th minute and a sixth in the 47th minute.
Richmond had nine shots with seven on goal while Stanford fired 14 shots and had 12 on frame. UR goalie Kristen Rake made six saves and allowed all six goals.
Richmond collected seven penalty corners with five in the third quarter, while holding Stanford to just three all game.
