Spiders Return to Lexington for VMI Invitational

Lexington, Va. – The University of Richmond women's track and field program will return to VMI Friday through Saturday to compete in the VMI Invitational.

Last week, four Spiders took part in the VMI Team Challenge. Elke Van der Westhuizen dominated the 600m, taking the 1st place finish at 1:38.73. Alicia Dawson took the 1st place finish in the triple jump at 12.29m, beating out the 2nd place mark by nearly a full meter (11.36m). Nina Lavelle competed in the 200m and the 400m. Lavelle took 3rd place in the 200m at 25.87 and 2nd place in the 400m with a mark of 59.10. Emily Rzucidlo finished 5th in the 600m at 1:41.63, adding another score to the board for the Spiders. The group took 7^th place overall on the days.

Competition will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, follow live results here.
