Spider Field Hockey Drops Decision Against #15 UMass

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond field hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 15 University of Massachusetts Friday night at Crenshaw Field in Atlantic 10 Conference action.
Richmond, now 10-6 on the season and 4-2 in league play, returns to action Sunday, Oct. 27 at No. 6 Maryland (10-5) at 1 p.m. on BigTEN Network-Plus. B1G+ is a paid subscription stream.
UMass got on the board in the fifth minute of action sending a shot over the shoulder of UR goalkeeper Kristen Rake's shoulder.
The rest of the first half was a defensive battle. Both teams combined for four shots and two corners in the first 30 minutes of the contest.
UMass upped the pressure in the second half. The Minutewomen added a second goal on a penalty stroke in the 43rd minute and a third goal off a corner play in the 50th minute.
The Spiders finished with one corner and one shot on goal, while Rake tallied five saves. Clara Larripa had UR's only shot, firing off a one-timer to the top right corner that sailed high in the second quarter.
