Spiders Roll Past Old Dominion to Open Home Campaign

Richmond, Va. – The University of Richmond women's lacrosse program opened its 2024 home campaign on Wednesday with the dominant 19-3 victory at Robins Stadium over Old Dominion. The series between the Spiders and the Monarchs moves to a record of 18-4 in favor of Richmond.
Anne Harrington's offensive unit entered the first quarter with its foot on the gas, outscoring Old Dominion 9-1. Through quarters two and three, the Spiders held the Monarchs to just one goal compared to their seven, setting the lead to 16-2 heading into the final fifteen minutes. With many new faces for Richmond joining the action in quarter four, the Spiders held the Monarchs to a singular goal and earned three of their own, claiming the 19-3 victory in their home opener.
Richmond spread the ball evenly through all four quarters as eleven Spiders contributed with goals. Three different Spiders scored hat-tricks on the evening, ending the competition with stacked stat lines:
Six other Spiders scored individual goals including Jemma Peterkin (1st career goal), Marymargaret Quinn, Ali Susskind, Charlotte Edwards, Maggie Jordan and Megan Rice.
The Richmond defensive unit had yet another successful game, spreading statistics through the group:
Goalie time was split between Nicole Burney and Abby Francioli. Burney took the first half as Francioli took the second. Burney contributed with 3 saves, only allowing 1 Old Dominion goal from 6 shots.

Goalie time was split between Nicole Burney and Abby Francioli. Burney took the first half as Francioli took the second. Burney contributed with 3 saves, only allowing 1 Old Dominion goal from 6 shots.
