WASHINGTON, D.C. – After evening his singles record at 3-3 on the year, the University of Richmond men's tennis team has the honor of highlighting senior Sebastian Miano as this week's Atlantic 10 Conference Performer of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday. This is the team's second Performer of the Week honor this season as Mark Taranov picked up the honor last week, and the third weekly honor as Paxton Pritchard was named Rookie of the Week on 1/30/24.
Miano, a Rome, Italy native, helped lead the Spiders to a 4-2 win over JMU this past Saturday. On singles court No. 4, he defeated Giersiepen (JMU), 6-4, 7-5 to put Richmond up 3-2 and move to 3-3 on the year in singles play. In doubles, the senior alongside freshman Dylan Atkinson, defeated Sadek/Sinopoli (JMU), 6-3, to help secure the doubles point for Richmond and move to 4-1 on the year as a doubles pair.
Miano and the 6-1 Spiders host a doubleheader on Friday, as the team welcomes Chowan to the Westhampton Tennis Complex at 11 a.m. and Randolph-Macon at 2 p.m. to open the 2024 home slate.
