Spiders Extinguish Flames in 18-11 Road Victory

Lynchburg, Va. – The University of Richmond women's lacrosse team lengthened its win streak to 4-0 with a 18-11 victory over the Flames of Liberty on Saturday afternoon.
Opening the game on a high note, Richmond ended the first quarter with a 4-2 lead on Liberty. Through quarters two and three, the Spiders held the Flames to 7 goals compared to their 10, maintaining a 14-9 lead entering the final quarter. Richmond's offensive unit did not lift its foot off the gas in quarter four, pushing through four scores to Liberty's two. The matchup ended in the Spiders favor at 18-11. Richmond did not allow Liberty to obtain a lead through the competition, with the closest margin being a 2-2 tie thirteen minutes into the game. From the second quarter on, they held a lead of three or more goals.
Grace Muldoon and Alexis Morton took lead of the Richmond offense each scoring four goals on the day. Muldoon matched her career high in goals per game and Morton set a new career high with her four scores. Muldoon found success on all levels of the field, dominating the draw circle with a game high 9 draw controls, and controlling the defensive motion with 4 ground balls. Along with Morton's scores, she contributed with an assist, tallying a 5 point game for the sophomore. Both Muldoon and Morton shot .800 from five shots.
Ali Susskind and Leah Kenny each scored hat-tricks against the Flames with 3 goals apiece. Susskind finished her day with 4 points after aiding in a score with an assist. Both seniors remained efficient in the shooting category at 100%. Kenny's goals now represent her career high in a single game.
Colleen Quinn shot for .500, scoring 2 goals. Quinn also contributed with 2 assists on the afternoon, bumping her point total to 4. Playing hard in all aspects of the game, she added a caused turnover to her stat sheet as well.
Maggie Jordan and Juliana Stanley each added individual goals to the final score. Jordan played strong on the defensive side of the field on top of her offensive efforts, forcing 3 caused turnovers, scooping 1 ground ball and winning 1 draw control. Stanley ended her day with 4 points, earning her addition three from assists.
