Richmond Baseball Drops Opener to Marist; Series Moved to Sunday DH

RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond baseball fell Friday afternoon, 5-3, to Marist at Pitt Field.
The Spiders, now 5-7 on the year, will host Marist in a Sunday double header to wrap up the series. First pitch is set for 10:30 a.m.
Richmond starter Kyle Roche tossed five scoreless innings, collecting four strikeouts, and didn't give up a hit until the fourth. The Red Foxes took a 4-0 lead in the sixth capitalizing on three base hits, three Richmond miscues. Roche took the loss but didn't give up a walk during his six-inning outing.
RJ Rickabaugh hit his first collegiate home run in the bottom of the six to put the Spiders on the board.
With the bases loaded in the seventh, Connor Larson was hit by the pitch to force in a run, but the three were stranded. Spiders added their third run in the eighth, when Phil Bernstein doubled in DJ Pacheco who picked up a double of his own.
Richmond reliever Harrison Clifton tossed an inning, allowing one run on two hits. Dane Armson went a third of an inning, walking two, before Logan Ymker tossed the final inning and two-thirds, striking out two of the five batters he faced.
