Spider Baseball Walks Off Revs Saturday

RICHMOND, Va. – After a pitcher's duel through six innings, the University of Richmond baseball offense roared back in the bottom of the ninth to collect the walk-off 3-2 win over George Washington on Saturday to secure the Atlantic 10 Conference series victory.
Richmond, now 15-20 on the year and 5-3 in league action, and GW, 20-14 on the season and 4-4 in conference play, return to Pitt Field for the final game of the series Sunday with first pitch set for noon on ESPN+.
Down 2-0 going into the bottom of the ninth, UR collected back-to-back one out base hits by Jake Topolski and Zach Lass. Aidan O'Keefe drew a full count walk to load the bases. Jack Arcamone tallied a pinch-hit two RBI single to right field to tie the game at 2-all. Connor Larson pushed a bunt past the pitcher, who got a glove on the ball and flung the ball with his glove out of reach of his catcher as O'Keefe scored on a head-first slide to win the game.
UR starter Kyle Roche had a no-hitter through four innings, collecting three strikeouts. The Revs collected their first hits in the fifth but were stranded. Roche worked out of trouble in the sixth, getting a strikeout to strand a GW runner at third.
The Spiders had runners in scoring position in the first, third and seventh, but were unable to get them in.
GW took the lead in the seventh, tallying one run on three hits to push Roche out of the game after 75 pitches. Harrison Clifton inherited 2-2 count to the batter and two on with two outs in the inning. He threw one pitch to collect the strikeout.
GW tallied another run in the eighth, collecting three quick hits off Logan Ymker. Dane Armson came in to get the final out of the eighth before retiring the Revs in order in the ninth with a strikeout.
