
Spiders Defeat Revolutionaries to Clinch First Round Conference Tournament Bye

Richmond, Va. – The University of Richmond women's lacrosse program defeated the Revolutionaries of George Washington 16-7 Saturday afternoon. Alexis Morton led the charge with eight points on the day. With this win, the Spiders clinch an automatic bye to the Atlantic 10 Championship semi-finals on May 3rd. Their overall record moves to 11-3 as they remain undefeated in conference play at 7-0.
Through two windy opening quarters of action, the Spiders trailed the Revolutionaries 4-3 before the break. As the breeze settled in Robins Stadium, Richmond stepped up the momentum in quarter three, outscoring George Washington 6-1 and giving themselves the 9-5 lead. The Spiders solidified their winning margins with a 7-2 fourth quarter, allowing no room for the Revolutionaries to make a return. An entertaining final thirty minutes ended with a Richmond 16-7 win over the conference foe.
Alexis Morton led the Richmond offensive efforts with 8 points from 4 goals and 4 assists, a career high in each category. Morton shot .500 overall and .666 from shots on goal. She collected a ground ball on the defensive end of the game as well. Morton has been a true leader for this 2024 Richmond squad, establishing herself as the current assist's leader with 27 on the season and the No. 2 points leader with 58, directly behind Colleen Quinn who has 60.
Juliana Stanley and Colleen Quinn each contributed with a hat trick, finding the back of the net 3 times each. Stanley shot for .750 overall and 100% from shots on goal. She aided in the game of possession as well, collecting 1 draw control. Quinn hit the 200 points milestone in this one with 4 points coming from her 3 goals and 1 assist. She went 2-2 from the free position, taking advantage of her opportunities given from George Washington fouls. Quinn continues to set the standard for the Richmond offensive unit, hitting the 200 career points milestone and putting herself at No. 9 in program history in that category as a Junior. Quinn also stands as the No. 8 all-time leader in assists in the Richmond history books. As the end of the regular season approaches, she looks to continue her success and climb the rankings.
Marymargaret Quinn ended her day with 2 goals, tying her career high in a single game. Quinn shot 100% overall, remaining efficient through the entire game as she claimed her opportunities at the right times.
