Spiders Place Fourth at Patriot League Championship

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Richmond finished fourth at the season-ending Patriot League Championship at Bucknell Golf Club Sunday, ending the 54-hole event with a team score of +74 (914). The Spiders combined to shoot 19-over par (299) in Round 3 Sunday, their lowest in any round, but were unable to catch Lehigh (+71), Boston (+51), or Navy (+42) on the leaderboard.
"We didn't see very many putts go in. The greens are just a little different than home," said Spiders coach Calle Barlow. "We had some tighter holes and some funky lies that I think made it a bit challenging for us."
Richmond was led by sophomores Hannah Lydic and Olivia Wilkie, who both finished at 17-over par (227), tying for eighth in the field and earning Second Team All-Patriot League honors. Wilkie has now been an All-Patriot League selection in each of her two seasons at Richmond after earning First Team All-Conference honors a year ago. This is the first All-Conference selection for Lydic, the 2023 Patriot League Rookie of the Year.
In her final college event, senior Rory Weinfurther, a 2021 Patriot League individual champion and 2023 Patriot League team champion, finished at 18-over par (228), tied for 11th place.
"It was super fun. Obviously, I was pretty nervous going into it but being surrounded by my teammates honestly made me less nervous," said Weinfurther. "It's the best four years I could have asked for and I know the girls on the team are going to be lifelong friends. Thinking about that all day definitely helped calm me."
Sunday also marked the end of senior Claire Yioulos's career. "I think both of my seniors have meant a lot," said Barlow of Yioulos and Weinfurther. "Both of them have really shown so much leadership and have really embraced everybody. We've been lucky to have both of them."
Junior Christine Mandile tied for 24th place at 27-over par (237), one shot in front of freshman Maya Beasley, who tied for 26th. Junior Lauren Jones tied for 28th at 31-over par (241).
The event was Richmond's final tournament as a member of the Patriot League. The Spiders will join the Atlantic 10 for its inaugural women's golf season in 2024-25.
