RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond baseball team kicked off the final month of the regular season splitting Friday's Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader with the Dayton Flyers. UR captured a 7-3 game one victory, but the ninth inning rally fell short in game two, falling 8-6.
Richmond, now 21-25 on the season and 10-7 in the A-10, and Dayton, 29-16 on the year and 11-5 in league play, will face off Saturday at Pitt Field at 1 p.m. on ESPN-Plus. Richmond will be wearing specialty jerseys for UR's ALS Awareness Game, teaming up with the Peter Frates Family Foundation.
Down 2-0 after a half inning in the first game, the Spiders quickly answered with five runs. DJ Pacheco got the scoring going, plating two with a double to right to tie the game. Jake Topolski scored one run with an infield single to take the lead before a fourth run came in on a ground out. Zach Lass then doubled in Topolski to give the Spiders a 5-2 lead.
