Spider Hockey Falls to No. 8 Ohio State

RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond field hockey fell to No. 8 Ohio State, 2-0, Friday afternoon at Crenshaw Field. The loss snaps the Spiders three game win streak and moves to 3-2 on the season.
Richmond is back in action Sunday, September 15, when the team heads to Farmville, Va., to take on Longwood at noon on ESPN-Plus from Elizabeth Burger Jackson Field.
Ohio State took an early lead in the fourth minute of the contest, converting on the squad's third penalty corner of the game. The Buckeyes pushed their lead to 2-0 in the sixth minute, moving the ball quickly down the field after breaking up a UR corner play for the score.
Richmond goalkeeper Kristen Rake had six of her eight saves in the first half, three each in the first two quarters of the game.
Late in the fourth quarter, Clara Larripa had two shots off a penalty corner, the first was blocked and the rebound shot was snuffed out by OSU.
UR was held to just seven shots with two on goal and only four penalty corners. OSU finished with 17 shots with 10 on goal and 12 penalty corners.
