Spiders Place 13th at Pirate Collegiate Classic

GREENVILLE, N.C. — The Richmond Spiders women's golf team registered a team score of 11-over par (299) on the final day of ECU's Pirate Collegiate Classic Tuesday to finish the event in the 13th place at 44-over par (908). UR's 11-over in Round 3 was its lowest round at the event after the Spiders opened with rounds of 13-over (301) and 20-over (308) Monday.
"We had a hard time really committing to our lines this week," said Richmond coach Calle Barlow, "But aw some putts fall at the end of the round today."
On her final hole of the event, junior Maya Beasley knocked a 6-iron to 5 feet and holed the putt to eagle the par-5 9th hole at Greenville Country Club, finishing the tournament at 8-over par and tied for 39th place, tops among all Spiders. Beasley's 37 pars were tied for sixth most of any golfer in the field of 87.
For the first time this season, Richmond's lineup featured a pair of freshmen in Addie Doroh and Avery McLaughlin. Doroh tied for 41st at 9-over par after closing with a 2-over 74 Tuesday. She played the par 3s in a combined 2-under par during the week, tied for second best in the field. McLaughlin tied for 62nd in her college debut at 15-over par, capping the event with a 4-over 76.
Senior Hannah Lydic tied for 53rd at 12-over par after sandwiching a 6-over 78 in Round 2 between a pair of 75s to open and close the event.
Sophomore Katie Magner placed 66th at 16-over par, finishing iwth a 76 (+4) Tuesday.
Senior Olivia Wilkie competed as an individual and tied for 57th at 13-over par.
Richmond will conclude its fall season October 16-18 at the Evie Odom Invitational in Virginia Beach, Va.
