RICHMOND, Va. — In her 96th career appearance, senior forward Maggie Doogan posted 28 points, 13 rebounds and six assists to lead the No. 24 University of Richmond women's basketball team to an 83-49 victory over Mount St. Mary's Tuesday night inside the Robins Center. With the win, the Spiders improved to 1-0 to open the 2025-26 campaign, while the Mountaineers fell to 0-1.

How It Happened
Richmond set the tone early, jumping out to a 9-2 lead behind a pair of threes from Rachel Ullstrom and one from Ally Sweeney. After Mount St. Mary's cut the deficit to five, the Spiders responded with an 11-2 stretch highlighted by a Sam Dewey triple and a corner three from Ava Persichetti to take a 20-6 lead after the opening quarter following two free throws from the opposition to end the opening 10 minutes.
The Mount opened the second period with back-to-back scores to pull within nine, but Maggie Doogan took over from there. The senior forward poured in 12 of her 28 points in the quarter, including an and-one finish, a deep three and a late layup as Richmond rebuilt its double-digit cushion. Skylah Travis knocked down two free throws in the closing minute to send the Spiders into halftime ahead 36-17.
Richmond broke the game open in the third quarter with a 21-2 burst to start the half, sparked by a Sweeney three, a Tierra Simon layup and a Doogan triple in transition. Ullstrom and Alicia Newell later added consecutive threes to extend the margin to 57-19. The Spiders outscored the Mount 29-14 in the period while shooting 62.5 percent from the field and 4-of-9 from three, entering the final frame with a commanding 65-31 lead.
