Elko Collects Atlantic 10 Player of the Week Honor

RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond baseball's Michael Elko was named Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon. This is Elko's first weekly league honor of his career and the second one for the program this season.
The College Station, Texas native made four starts, three behind the plate, as he went 11-for-15 for a .733 batting average. He collected 11 RBI, four doubles, three home runs, three walks, and scored seven runs as he helped the Spiders go 4-0 with a midweek victory over Longwood and an A-10 series sweep over St. Bonaventure. Elko had a three-run home run against Longwood and in the first game Saturday against St. Bonaventure.
On the season, he's third on the team and in the league with a .452 average in 14 starts, fourth in home runs (4) and RBI (20). He leads the A-10 with a .929 slugging percentage and second with a 1.449 OPS.
The 18-2 Spiders head on the road for five straight games starting with No. 23 Virginia Wednesday in Charlottesville for a 4 PM first pitch.
