Nichols, Larripa Lift Spider Field Hockey Past Georgetown

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond field hockey team came back to defeat Georgetown, 2-1, Friday afternoon at Crenshaw Field. The Spiders improve to 2-3 on the season while the Hoyas fall to 2-3.
Richmond is back in action Sunday, heading to Norfolk to face Old Dominion at 1 p.m.
Lainey Nichols put the Spiders on the board in the 11th minute on a tip in goal, passed from Clara Larripa on a penalty corner play for her second goal of the season.
After a first half defensive battle, Georgetown held the upper hand in shots, 7-4, and penalty corners, 5-2.
The Hoyas tied it up in the in the 44th minute, redirecting a shot off a corner play.
The Spiders quickly answered with a tip in goal with just 40 seconds left in the third quarter off a corner play. Larripa redirected Amy Stripling's shot from Camila Daud over the Georgetown goalkeeper. Larripa finished with three points on the day after tallying her second goal of the season.
UR goalkeeper Amanda Cimillo (3-2) tallied three saves against the Hoyas. Richmond finished with the advantage in shots 14-11, but both squads collected seven penalty corners. Nichols paced the team with four shots, all on goal, while Larripa and Stripling both had three shots.
