RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond field hockey team opened Atlantic 10 Conference action Friday with an 8-0 victory over Lock Haven with seven different goal scorers at Crenshaw Field. This was the first time since 2009 that the Spiders tallied eight goals on an opponent (Ball State, Aug. 29, 2009).

Richmond, now 4-3 on the season and 1-0 in A-10 play, is back in action Friday, September 26 heading to Philadelphia to take on La Salle in conference action. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at The Proving Grounds in Conshohocken, Pa.

The Spiders dominated possession, finishing with an advantage in shots (28-3) and penalty corners (13-3). UR goalkeeper Amanda Cimillo collected her second shutout of the season, not facing any shots on goal.

Amy Stripling put the Spiders on the board in the 14^th minute of action, completing a penalty corner play from the top of the circle with aid from Camila Daud on the stick stop and Jess McMeeking on the insert. Stripling collected her third goal and first game-winning goal of the season on the play while Daud picked up her fourth assist and McMeeking her second helper.

Alexa Derr tallied her first goal of the season in the 20^th minute, tipping in the rebound off Clara Larripa's shot on a set play. Derr picked up her second goal of the game in the 53^rd minute, again sliding in behind the keeper to tip in the ball on a corner play.

Lainey Nichols then scored on a fast break, getting fed the ball just outside the circle from Reese Miller in the 22^nd minute of action for her third goal of the season. Miller tallied her second assist of the season.

Larripa took over in the third quarter, scoring a goal and assisting on the two other goals in the period. First, she assisted on Remy Phan's first collegiate goal in the 31^st minute. Larripa then drove through the Lock Haven defense herself to power a shot past the keeper for her goal in the 37^th minute. Olivia Eusanio then tipped in her first collegiate goal on a hard ball in by Larripa in the 42^nd minute and put the Spiders up 6-0.

Charly Faherty, in her first game back since the season opener due to injury, finished up the Spiders scoring when she stuffed the ball in the goal in the 55^th minute.
