Spiders Slide to Fifth on Final Day in Raleigh
03/24/2026 | Women's Golf
RALEIGH, N.C. — The Richmond Spider women's golf team fell from third to fifth in the final round of the City of Oaks Collegiate Tuesday, combining for a team score of 316 (+28) in the final round. Richmond finished the event at 50-over par (914), good for fifth in the field of 13 teams. Richmond's score was a 29-shot improvement over its last two tournaments at Lonnie Poole Golf Course, when the Spiders shot 79-over par (943) at both the 2025 City of Oaks Collegiate and the 2023 NCAA Regionals.
Junior Maya Beasley led Richmond with a 2-over 74 Tuesday and was UR's top finisher at the event, placing eighth at 8-over par (224). It's Beasley's seventh career top-10 finish and her second straight after she tied for ninth at the Low Country Intercollegiate earlier this month.
"The weather was definitely a factor today," said Beasley. "Lonnie Poole as a whole though is all about shot making and trusting yourself. You have to know where to miss and take advantage of opportunities if they are given. It's a mental battle as much as anything out there."
Freshman Addie Doroh joined Beasley in the top 20, tying for 16th at 14-over par (230). It was Doroh's fourth top-20 finish this season and her second in a row after she joined Beasley in a tie for ninth at the Low Country Intercollegiate.
Senior Hannah Lydic was one shot back in a tie for 22nd at 15-over par (231). Lydic has now finished in the top 25 in three of her four events this spring.
Senior Olivia Wilkie tied for 31st at 17-over par (233), and sophoomore Katie Magner tied for 56th at 22-over par (238).
After finishing no better than 12th in its final three events of the fall season, the Spiders have now registered four top-five finishes in their four events this spring. In addition to today's result at the City of Oaks Collegiate, UR placed third at the Low Country Intercollegiate in March, fourth at the Sea Best Intercollegiate in January, and fifth at the More than Golf Invitational, also in March.
Richmond has two events remaining on its regular season schedule: the Terps Invitational in College Park, Md. on April 5-6 and the Atlantic 10 Championship in Orlando, Fla. on April 20-22.
