Schaller Named A-10 Baseball Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond's Chris Schaller has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday (April 6). This is Schaller's first career weekly league honor and the program's third weekly accolade of the season.
In his three starts at La Salle, Schaller put together a .417 batting average while collecting five extra base hits to help the Spiders sweep the Explorers. He legged out three doubles, a triple and hit a three-run home run, the first of his collegiate career and on his birthday (April 3). He also made six putouts in as the Spiders starting center fielder without committing an error.
On the season, Schaller is hitting .296 with 24 hits, a team-leading 10 doubles, a triple and a home run in 28 games played with 23 starts in center field. He also has 10 RBI, scored 12 times, while stealing 13 bases in 16 attempts.
Schaller and the Spiders, now 17-15 on the season and 6-6 in league play, are back in action Friday, heading to Fairfax to take on George Mason,15-14 and 8-4, in Atlantic 10 action.
