Austin McGowan enters his first season as the Director of Baseball Operations at the University of Richmond in 2014.
“Austin is going to be great to have on staff for us,” said head coach Tracy Woodson at the time of his hiring. “Austin just finished up his playing career at Old Dominion and was looking for a chance to break in to coaching. He has a background in strength and conditioning, and we will be sure to take advantage of that.”
McGowan comes to Richmond after a successful playing career at Old Dominion. A four-year letterman for the Monarchs, McGowan started 83 of the 124 games in which he appeared. For his career at ODU, McGowan had 24 doubles, two triples, four home runs and 34 RBI.
Along with his playing experience, McGowan brings a background of strength and conditioning to his position as Director of Baseball Operations. In 2012, McGowan was an intern in the strength and conditioning department at Old Dominion.
