Christy Yarnell is the program's all-time leader in career saves, save percentage as well as holding records for saves and save percentage in a season. She graduated last year and is currently serving as the assistant lacrosse coach at the University of Notre Dame.
The opportunity to be a part of something larger than myself, as a member of an athletic team at a great university, has allowed me to learn much about the kind of person I am and about the kind of person I would like to become. I left Richmond a better student, athlete, and person.
The University of Richmond is a special place. There are many reasons why I cherish my time as a Spider. It is a place that truly fostered my growth as an individual, not just as a student-athlete. While athletics was an important aspect of my educational experience, receiving a quality education from a prestigious university was paramount. The success I experienced on the playing field was wonderful, but fleeting. My diploma from the University of Richmond is something that endures.
While I benefited from the one-on-one attention in the classroom and from the competition on the playing fields, I cherish the friendships and personal relationships that I made at the University of Richmond. My friends supported me, comforted me, encouraged me and most importantly, challenged me. In addition, the professors, coaches, and staff members with whom I interacted were professional, courteous and pursued their jobs with infectious passion. I felt privileged to be surrounded by people who were committed to their occupation, to the University and to my athletic and personal development.
In Richmond, I found a school rich in tradition and high in integrity, an institution with deep pride and loyalty. Today I feel privileged to have been a part of Richmond's lacrosse family and to have helped lay the foundation for the future success of the program.
