Field Hockey Posts A-10 Victory Over UMass

AMHERST, MASS. - Senior Sarah Adams (Tulsa, Okla.) scored two goals to lead Richmond to a 4-1 victory over Atlantic 10 opponent University of Massachusetts. Richmond improves to a 7-6 record, 1-0 in Atlantic 10 action, while UMass falls to 0-13, 0-1 in conference play.
The Spiders opened scoring at the 11:54 point when Adams scored her first goal of the night. The Spiders offense tallied two more goals in the first half, from freshman Michelle La Force (Centreville, Va.) and another score from Adams.
Richmond's fourth goal was scored by Melissa Yuppa (Fairfield, N.J.) early in the second half.
UMass got on the board at the 43:49 mark when Jamie Bawden scored off an assist from Sarah Bohonowicz.
The Spiders travel to Rhode Island on Sunday, October 13. Game time is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
