UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, VA. - Senior Jill Murphy (Williamsburg, Va.) etched her name in Richmond's record book as she became the all-time career assist leader this past weekend. Her assist, in the Spiders' victory against Massachusetts on October 11, gave her a total of 24 career assists which broke the former record of 23 set by Megan Conway.
Murphy passed the mark when she stopped the ball on a penalty corner and teammate Sarah Adams was able to connect with the goal. Twelve of her assists have come off of penalty corner goals. In 14 games this season, she has registered 14 assists.
Murphy has recorded a team-high 14 assists this season and is ranked first in the Atlantic 10 and second in the country. She needs just four more assists to surpass the single-season assists record of 17.
Richmond returns to the field on Saturday, October 19, when they travel to Philadelphia to face Saint Joseph's. Game time is scheduled for noon.
