Women's Tennis Gets Past Central Florida, 5-2

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's tennis team earned a hard-fought victory over the University of Central Florida Friday afternoon, 5-2, as the team recorded its fifth-straight victory in its first home match of the season.
In singles competition, sophomore Jeannette Cluskey (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) and junior Vanessa Bagnato (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) each won grueling three-set matches at the No.s 1 and 2 positions, respectively. At the No. 3 spot, freshman Lindsay Cox (Finchampstead, Workingham Berks, UK/Edgbarrow) improved her spring record to 8-3 with a straight-sets victory. Sophomore Patty Devlin's (York, Pa./York Suburban) win at No. 6 gave Richmond its fourth singles point of the afternoon. Both junior Casey Cohen (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./The Bolles School) and freshman Courtney Klein (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East) fell in three-set matches. Richmond also took the doubles point as Cluskey and Devlin teamed to win at the No. 2 slot and Cohen and Klein claimed a victory at No. 3 doubles.
The victory improves Richmond to 7-5 on the season. The team returns to action Monday, March 18 as it hosts North Carolina State at 2:00 p.m. at the UR Tennis Complex.

The women's tennis team was able to display a victory on the new UR Tennis Complex scoreboard, which was constructed thanks to the generosity of Glenn Cohen and First Market Bank.
