#22 Richmond Upends #25 James Madison In Baseball, 9-5

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Sophomore center fielder and lead-off hitter Bryan Pritz (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) had five hits, including a home run, to lead No. 22 Richmond to a 9-5 victory against No. 25 James Madison in non-conference college baseball Wednesday afternoon at Long Field.
The Spiders upped their record to 29-4 with their third victory this season against JMU. The Dukes had their season-best eight-game win streak snapped and slipped to 27-8.
Pritz singled in the first and second innings, started the fourth inning with his fourth homer of the season, doubled in the eighth and had an RBI single in the ninth. Pritz, sophomore third baseman David Reaver (Union Bridge, Md./Linganore) and sophomore shortstop Matt Craig (Dallas, Texas/Trinity Christian), the top three hitters in the order, accounted for nine of the Spiders' 12 hits. Reaver (2-for-6) drove in three runs, including two on a triple in the eight that gave the visitors an 7-3 advantage. Craig (2-for-5) drove in one run.
Freshman left-hander Tim Rice (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) picked up the win to raise his record to 3-0. He allowed three runs on four hits and a walk while fanning four. Freshman right-hander Derek Duclos (Exton, Pa./Malvern Prep) held JMU hitless in the sixth and seventh innings. Sophomore right-hander Tim Stauffer (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Central) gave up two hits, walked two and allowed a pair of runs in the ninth. Stauffer, who's 10-0, made his second appearances in relief to go with nine starts this spring.
Junior first baseman Eddie Kim (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) was JMU's only player with multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Sophomore left-hander Kurt Isenberg (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) was tagged with the loss and fell to 5-2. He allowed three runs, one earned, on three hits and five walks. He struck out two.
