UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - After setting a school record for goals in a game (12) last weekend, the Richmond Field Hockey team (1-0) will look for more offensive power when it travels to Syracuse, N.Y., for two games this weekend. The Spiders' first of two matches begins Friday at 7 p.m. when they take on the Pacific Tigers at J.S. Coyne Field. Sunday Richmond will return to J.S. Coyne Field for a game against the Orange set to begin at 1 p.m. Junior newcomer Holly Cram, who scored a record-tying four goals in the 12-0 win over Monmouth, leads the Richmond offensive attack. Two more new faces, freshmen Tara Kelly and Shannon Taylor, also chipped in last weekend with multi-goal games. Kelly's three-goal effort came via five shots, all on goal. Defensively, the Spiders are led by junior goalkeeper Michelle Swartz. Saturday's shutout marked the 30th of her career. Pacific is 1-1 heading into a match Thursday against Albany. The Tigers are led by sophomore Vianney Campos, who has scored four goals in their two games. The Chula Vista, Calif., native took a game-high six shots in Pacific's opening-day win over Providence. Syracuse, 0-1 after falling to Temple in overtime, is led by senior Lindsay Peirson's one goal and two assists. Peirson had a hand in all three of the Orange's goals against the Owls. Sunday's game will serve as the home opener for Syracuse.
