Spiders Take Part In Summer Competitions At U.S. Training Facility

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Over the recent holiday weekend several Richmond field hockey athletes as well as head coach Ange Bradley took part in the U.S. Field Hockey Associations Summer Championships.
Bradley, an assistant coach for the Thunderstix, helped lead Richmond's Lesley Russell, Whitney Wells and Erin Arthur. The Thunderstix placed fourth in the Elite Performance Training Center National Championships, after falling in overtime to the PA/NJ Regional team.
Another Spider, All-America candidate Allie Howard, was part of the U.S. U-21 team which won the event over the Midwest Regional squad.
The Spiders kick the 2005 season off, Saturday, Aug. 27 at noon when they host American, the first of four 2004 NCAA participants, at Crenshaw Field. The following day, Sunday, Aug. 28, Richmond returns to the turf and welcomes Radford for a 1 p.m. contest.
