NORFOLK, Va. - Freshman Mandy Friend scored five goals in the No. 10 University of Richmond women's lacrosse team's dominating victory at Old Dominion University (2-1) on Wed. afternoon in Norfolk, Va. where the Spiders scored a program record-breaking 22 goals. Friend then converted a free position attempt less than 30 seconds later that Old Dominion's Sarah Lautenbach answered with a goal off an assist from teammate Caroline Jacobs to bring the game to a 2-1 Spider advantage. Richmond's Riedy then added an unassisted goal for the Spiders before Old Dominions Melody Shotwell would score a Lady Monarch goal to keep the game within one goal reach.
Richmond's Morghan Vahue assisted M. Friend on her second goal of the contest before ODU would go on a three goal run to take their only lead over the Spiders at the 10:14 mark. Richmond's A. Friend then sparked the Spiders into an eight goal run after she knocked in two goals herself. Nuzzi followed with one goal, McGuire and Cunniff put in two, and M. Friend contributed one to give the Spiders a seven goal advantage less than three minutes into the second half.

Jacobs followed with another goal for the Lady Monarchs, but the Spiders followed with five consecutive goals from Tract, Allen (two), Hubbard, and M.
