UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Junior Shannon Taylor garnered the first Atlantic 10 Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week honor after scoring three goals in the Spiders' first two games of the season, A-10 officials announced Tuesday. Taylor currently leads the 19th-ranked Spider field hockey squad with seven points on the season, including three goals and one assist.
Taylor, a native of Midlothian, Va., scored both of Richmond's goals in its, 2-1, season-opening win over Towson. The junior midfielder put the Spiders in front in the ninth minute of play against the Tigers, then recorded the game-winner off a broken corner play in the 44th minute.

After Princeton jumped out to a 2-0 lead, Richmond scored two goals to close out the first half before Taylor tacked on the go-ahead score in the 57th minute.
