
Field Hockey Wins First-Place Showdown With West Chester, 2-0

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond field hockey team improved to 3-0 in the Atlantic 10 with a 2-0 win over West Chester in a first-place showdown Sunday at Crenshaw Field.
The Spiders out-shot West Chester 15-1 and scored a goal in each half to win for the fourth time in the last five games. Redshirt junior Dani Pycroft scored Richmond's first goal 12:34 into the game and sophomore Katelin Peterson made it 2-0 with 22:04 left in the match.
Peterson scored her 10th goal of the season and the 22nd of her career. Pycroft scored her ninth goal of the season and the 16th of her career.
Richmond posted its third shutout in as many Atlantic 10 games and its sixth shutout of the season. Senior Jacki Raithel recorded her second-straight shutout and sixth of her career.
The Spiders have out-scored their three A-10 opponents 18-0 and out-shot them 59-7.
The Spiders, who have won five of the last seven Atlantic 10 titles, have now won 57 of their last 62 games against Atlantic 10 teams entering next weekend's match with No. 10 ranked Massachusetts (9-6, 0-2). The Minutewomen lost to Saint Joseph's 3-0 and Temple 2-1 in overtime this weekend.
Richmond plays its last non-conference game of the season on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at city rival VCU.
Dani Pycroft, Raithel, Megan Thompson, Jess Weidner and Becky White were honored in a Senior Day ceremony before the game.
