Richmond Secures 20th Win Of Season At Longwood

FARMVILLE, Va. -- Richmond downed Longwood, 72-59, for its 20th victory of the season Monday night in Farmville, Va.
Richmond improved to 20-5 overall, and won its fifth in a row. The Spiders ended their stellar non-conference slate 13-2.
Richmond recorded its 20th win for the third season under head coach Michael Shafer, and third in the last four seasons. Overall, it's the 11th time in program history the Spiders have reached the 20-win mark.
The 20-5 mark is Richmond's best record since 2004-05, the last year the Spiders went to the NCAA Tournament.
Abby Oliver led Richmond with 18 points and four assists. Rachael Bilney followed with 14 points, including 4-of-7 from long range. The Spiders went 10-of-19 (52.6%) from long range, and were two treys shy of tying a season-high.
The Spiders led the rebounding edge, 37-24, led by Becca Wann's game-high 10 boards. Richmond dished 19 assists and shot 49 percent for the game (24-49). Richmond's bench outscored Longwood, 21-2. Nine Spiders tallied points in the scoring column.
Wann nearly missed her fourth career double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. Genevieve Okoro scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds off the bench.
Richmond improved to 22-12 in the series with the Lancers, and won its sixth-straight in the meetings.
Richmond plays its third game in five days at Xavier Wednesday night at the Cintas Center. Tip is slated for 7 p.m.
