
Six Spiders Earn All Conference Recognition

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Mary Flowers was named the Midfielder of the Year, while five other Spiders earned honors.
Flowers earned her third consecutive Midfielder of the Year accolade and third-straight Atlantic 10 first team honor, thanks to a stellar senior campaign. The Tewaarton Watch nominee leads the team in ground balls (50), draw controls (60) and caused turnovers (39), while ranking third on the in goals (43) and points (68). Flowers is second in assists (25) and ranks third in the country in caused turnovers per game (2.40).
Joining Flowers on the first team is Sam Stevenson and Caitlin Fifield. Stevenson leads the Spider point total with 73 points, scoring 49 goals (good for second) and dishing 24 (third on the team) assists. Fifield is the team leader in goals (52) and was named the A-10 Player of the Week in March after leading the Spiders to a win over No. 13 James Madison. Fifield was a second-team selection in 2011.
Two Spiders garnered second-team honors in Taylor Blazer and Kara Moschetti. Blazer was an All-Rookie and first team member last season. Blazer grabbed 30 ground balls, 12 draw controls and six caused turnovers. Moschetti has tallied 26 goals on the season, and was an All-Rookie honoree in 2010.
Two-time A-10 All Rookie nominee Emily Doyle was tabbed to the All-Rookie team. Doyle leads the team in assists with 28, and dished a school-record seven helpers in a win over Temple earlier this month. Doyle bested a record six assists that occurred in a game in 2004.
Richmond vies for its fourth A-10 title this weekend at Robins Stadium in the 2012 Atlantic 10 Lacrosse Championships.
