Field Hockey Earns National Academic Honors

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond Field Hockey team received the Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division National for posting a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2012 fall semester.
The Spiders also had seven student-athletes named to the Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team.
Senior Liesl Schnuck, junior Paige Venables, sophomores Samantha Ostoich and Helen Warner and freshmen Allison Haas, Avery Safford and Kimberly Sportak earned the academic award.
Schnuck and Ostoich had the highest GPA among female athletes in their class at the University of Richmond last fall.
The Spiders finished the 2012 season ranked No. 19 in the nation with a 16-5 record and perfect 7-0 mark in Atlantic 10 play to win their eighth A-10 regular-season title in the last 11 years.
