COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Richmond Spiders track and field team placed fourth out of 14 teams at the Terrapin Invitational this past weekend.
"Today was a good start to the new year for our women placing fourth out of 17 teams,” coach Lori Taylor remarked. “They competed hard and that was what we wanted to see today."
Headlining Richmond's effort at the Terrapin Invitational were a pair of wins, led by a victory in the Distance Medley Relay by the team of Taylor Clevinger, Jade Gregory, Stephanie Hughes and Jill Prentice. In the final 1,600 meters, Prentice secured the win with a split of 5:00.2. The team's winning time of 11:57.84 is the top time so far in the Atlantic 10 – 14 seconds faster than any other team.
The Spiders also took third place in the Distance Medley Relay, with the team of Alena McGonigle, Deborah Fajuyigbe, Haley Preschutti, and Amanda Corbosiero timing in at 12:19.89.
