Women's Lacrosse Continues Hot Scoring In ODU Win
03/05/2015 | Women's Lacrosse
Senior Emily Doyle (Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey) set a new Richmond season high with six goals and the Spiders women's lacrosse program posted a new season high with 15 goals in a 15-8 home win over Old Dominion Wednesday evening at Robins Stadium. The win levels the Spiders' record to 3-3 overall, while the Monarchs took only their second loss of the season, at 4-2.
Eight different players scored goals for the Spiders, who were coming off of 13 goals scored at Liberty at Saturday for the previous season high. Richmond has more than doubled its season scoring output in those games. Freshman Kim Egizi (Westwood, Massachusetts) and senior Bailey Zerr (Denver, Colorado) both turned in two-goal performances, while Doyle added two assists.
Richmond scored three goals in the first 5:35 of the game, with Zerr, junior Charlett Stevenson (Darien, Connecticut) and Egizi logging the first three scores of the game. Doyle got both of her assists on two of these early goals. The Monarchs finally scored nearly 10 minutes into the first half.
Senior goalie Emily Boyce (Middletown, Massachusetts) collected eight saves in the first half and nine for the game before she was lifted for junior Michaela Aymong (Northport, New York). Boyce got the win, improving her season mark to 3-3.
ODU goalie Karen Hayde allowed 14 goals and made nine saves before being lifted at halftime. She is now 4-2 on the season.
The Spiders will host No. 15 James Madison Friday evening at 6 p.m. at Robins Stadium. Admission for women's lacrosse is free.
