WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Richmond women's lacrosse won its fourth-straight game as four different Spiders scored two goals each in an 11-9 road win at George Washington Friday in the nation's capital. The Spiders improve to 7-6 overall and are a perfect 4-0 in the Atlantic 10 Conference after the win. George Washington slips to 4-8 overall, 2-2 in league games.
The Spiders fought back from two first-half, one-goal deficits in the win.
Three of the four two-goal scorers found the back of the net in bunches. After the Colonials scored in the first minute, senior Anna Jeszeck (Cortlandt Manor, New York) scored back-to-back goals within 83 seconds on one another to give the Spiders a 2-1 lead with 26 minutes remaining in the first half.
The Colinials scored three-straight goals in the middle portion of the first half, but free position goals from Emily Newman (New Albany, Ohio) and Emily Doyle (Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey) put the Spiders back up by a goal. To finish off the half, freshman Kim Egizi (Westwood, Massachusetts) posted two-straight goals and gave Richmond a 7-4 halftime advantage.
The Spiders had a one-shot advantage (12-11) and a 10-2 draws advantage at the half. Richmond hit on four of its five free position shots in the opening half and held the Colonials scoreless in two attempts in the first half, 0-for-7 in the totality of the game.
GW was able to score three times to start the second half and force a seven-all tie, but juniors Charlett Stevenson (Darien, Connecticut) and Brooke Wilson (Ijamsville, Maryland) posted the next two goals to give UR the lead for good. Senior Bailey Zerr (Denver, Colorado) scored her back-to-back goals in the final 10 minutes of game play and a late GW goal pulled it to within two.
Senior goalie Emily Boyce (Middletown, Maryland) posted 11 saves, her most in the four A-10 games this season, to preserve the win. She now has 97 saves for the season, giving her at least 95 in the past three seasons and pushing her over 300 for her career. She has all 13 decisions for the team this season and an identical 7-6 mark.
The Spiders will head to George Mason to finish the A-10 road weekend with a 1 p.m. game in Fairfax on Sunday.
