Field Hockey Travels To JMU To Take On 17th-Ranked Iowa

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Spider field hockey team travels to JMU on Friday for a bout with the nationally-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes.
Richmond (2-0) and Iowa (1-1) will play at JMU's Field Hockey Complex with a first whistle at 5 p.m. Fans can follow the action through live stats or on twitter.
UR won a pair of one-goal matches in the opening weekend, downing American, 2-1, in overtime before defeating Drexel, 2-1, on Sunday.
Grad student Laetitia Commeyne won the Atlantic 10's Rookie of the Week award after she came off the bench to score her first career goal in the second half of Friday's game against AU. The goal tied the game and forced overtime where UR eventually emerged victories.
With Sunday's win, head coach Gina Lucido picked up her 100th career victory at Richmond.
SCOUTING IOWA
The Spiders and Hawkeyes have met twice before with Iowa owning a 2-0 series record, including a 2-1 overtime win in 2000. The Hawkeyes defeated No. 11 Wake Forest before falling to No. 2 North Carolina in a pair of 2-1 games in the season's opening weekend. Stephanie Norlander took five shots with a goal and an assist on opening weekend. Alexandra Pecora made eight saves in goal through the first two games.
